Porter’s primary issue revolved around the imminent AWS to GCP migration, necessitating a hands-on Principal Engineer of Cloud capable of orchestrating a seamless transition while implementing efficient, scalable, and secure cloud architectures. 

Their ideal candidate was an individual contributor who could demonstrate strategic guidance and architectural expertise to align the engineering platform and application teams with overarching business objectives, emphasizing the importance of technical leadership and collaboration across departments. 

Thus, the prime challenge lay in finding a Principal Engineer who could provide technical leadership, facilitate collaboration, and drive innovation to propel the organization's cloud initiatives forward effectively.
